The Sussexes’ security team member, who witnessed the ordeal firsthand, revealed to CNN that the situation was unprecedented.
“I have never witnessed or experienced anything quite like this,” he admitted, highlighting the chaotic nature of the event. He further emphasized that the public’s safety was at risk multiple times, indicating that the consequences could have been dire.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by law enforcement, the New York Police Department released a statement addressing the incident.
They attributed the difficulties encountered during transportation to the presence of numerous photographers, whose actions complicated the situation.
However, the police clarified that despite the commotion, no collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests were reported.
Contrary to initial claims, police sources informed ABC News that the engagement between Harry, Meghan, and the photographers lasted no longer than 20 minutes.
They reasoned that any extension of the event’s duration was due to the couple’s security team’s precautions to ensure their safety and evade the paparazzi.
Additionally, the number of photographers pursuing the royal duo was not as significant as initially reported, according to the police sources.
