Video shows a South African police officer fatally shooting his pregnant ex-wife outside of a hospital.

 At the Brits Hospital in the North West of South Africa, a policeman shot and killed his pregnant ex-wife and surrendered to the authorities.

On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, the 39-year-old police sergeant turned himself in at the Brits police station for the murder of the 35-year-old pregnant woman.

Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, a spokesperson for the North West Police, stated, “It is alleged that the police officer, who is stationed at Rapid Rail in Silverton, Pretoria and residing at Ga-Rankuwa, went to Brits Hospital where his ex-wife was working.”

According to Mokgwabone, the police officer turned himself in to the authorities following the incident and was anticipated to appear soon before the Brits Magistrate’s Court. “According to information, the wife, who was working as a switchboard operator, was at the hospital entrance when the suspect fired several shots and instantly killed the victim,” Mokgwabone said.

At this point, no one knows what caused the incident, but the Independent Police Investigative Directorate is looking into it.

According to Mokgwabone, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, the North West provincial police commissioner, condemned the incident and offered his sincere condolences to the victim’s friends, colleagues, and family.

Given that this was the second incident involving police officers in less than a month, he advised employees to utilize the services of the Employee Health and Wellness and other professionals.

According to Robbie Raburabu, a spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), the couple’s divorce was finalized last year.

In connection with a murder charge that IPID is looking into, he will appear in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Tebogo Lekgethwane, a spokesperson for the North West Department of Health, told News24 that the incident took place outside the hospital.

He stated that counseling would be provided to employees, witnesses, and the woman’s family.
