The brother of the television host Phillip Schofield was found guilty of sexually abusing a teenager for three years.

 Timothy Schofield, 54, had admitted to watching pornography and masturbating with the schoolboy but claimed he only did so when the alleged victim was over 16. Today, a jury found him guilty of sexually abusing the boy over the course of three years. The jury also found that he had begun sexually abusing the boy years earlier, including coercing him into performing sex acts on him.


Schofield, who is seven years more youthful than his popular kin, argued not liable however was sentenced for 11 counts of sexual offenses at Exeter Crown Court.

According to a witness statement that Philip gave to the court, he told his TV star brother in September 2021 that he had masturbated with the boy a year earlier.


The Bath-based police IT technician had repeatedly suggested that the complainant is “exaggerating” what had happened and attributed his actions to “mental health struggles.”


In the meantime, his defense attorney stated that he had not committed a crime despite being convicted of “the most serious crimes in the court of public morals.”


However, in concluding the prosecution’s case, prosecutor Robin Shellard stated: We are dealing with criminal abuse of a child, not morality.’


He continued: People under the age of 18 and under the age of 16 are not treated as full adults for a number of good reasons, and we are all a part of this society and the law.


‘Society tries to protect children from adults who want to abuse them and tries to protect children from themselves.’


Referring to the defendant’s claims of ‘exaggeration’, Mr Shellard said: ‘The problem for Mr. Schofield is how restrained the boy is in his allegations.


Is that person motivated by hate and spite or is he saying things about what happened? We say the evidence shows the boy is not motivated by hate and lies.


Schofield was convicted of three counts of causing a child to watch sexual activity, three of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, three of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and two of sexual activity with a child. He will be sentenced at a later date.
