One dead, many trapped as parking garage collapses in Manhattan

 

On Tuesday afternoon, a parking garage floor collapsed on itself, trapping a number of people and killing one, leaving cars piled high in New York City.

On April 18, at 4:15 p.m., the incident occurred in lower Manhattan at 57 Ann Street, between Nassau Street and William Street.

According to the FDNY, the four-story structure’s second floor collapsed onto the first.

In Manhattan, a parking garage collapses, leaving one person dead and many trapped. A video taken at the scene showed multiple cars stacked on top of one another in the crumbling concrete.

The building’s exterior is still standing, but the front facade has buckled and is at risk of falling down.

Individuals were likewise caught in the deep opening which collapsed.

There are introductory reports of three wounds, two minor, one serious yet not hazardous, reports NBC New York.

Private condos and organizations on the road have been told to clear until additional notification.

Firefighters haven’t been able to get inside the building yet because it might collapse even more.
