California’s “wellness officer” is a rabbit who joins the police force.

 

A rabbit known as Percy is formally the most up to date staff individual from the Yuba City Police Division in California.

After being discovered lost and alone on the street in October 2022, the police department claims that Percy will be employed as a “wellness officer.”

Officer Ashley Carson, according to reports, was on patrol when she found the bunny on Percy Avenue and picked him up to keep him safe.

According to a statement from the force, “Officer Carson picked him up in order to ensure the rabbit’s safety, realizing how docile and friendly he was.”

The family did not claim the rabbit after it was taken to animal control.

The force seized the opportunity when Percy was later offered for adoption.

They announced the rabbit’s promotion to wellness officer a few days before Easter Sunday, in which he provides officers with cuddles.

They added, using a laughing emoji, that the majority of employees “enjoy his company, while some are still getting used to the idea of a rabbit being inside a police department.”
