“At 14, My Math Teacher Predicted Mavin Would Sign Me” – Ayra Starr
Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, better known by her stage name Ayra Starr, is a Nigerian singer. She has shared a story about how her secondary school mathematics teacher predicted that her record label, Mavin, would sign her.
During an interview with Joey Akan on the most recent episode of “Afrobeats Intelligence,” the “Rush” singer made this revelation.
Ayra Starr said that her math teacher was confident in her abilities and predicted that Mavin would sign her one day.
She was just 14 years old at the time, and because he believed in her, she was motivated to join the choir and improve her singing.
The instructor additionally pushed her to post her accounts online for others to see.
Just as he had predicted, she was signed to Mavin, Don Jazzy’s music label, years later.
Her words are:
“I have a teacher who literally pushed me to do better. He stated that Mavin would sign me. It’s absurd. He told me, “Mavin is going to sign you,” when I was 14 years old. Begin making recordings.’ He would only motivate me. Even though he was Muslim, he always advised me to attend church and join the choir. He taught me mathematics.
